Plymouth County Mentoring - Lunch Buddies
The Plymouth Counting Mentoring Lunch Buddies program matches elementary school students nominated by the school with community members that volunteer as a mentor.
A Big visits his/her Little at school once a week for 30 minutes during the Little's lunch time over the course of the school year with a focus on promoting and creating an excitement around academics. This program is available in Le Mars Community School District, Hinton Community School District and Gehlen Catholic Elementary School.
Bigs With Badges (BWB)
In this program, local police officers, sheriff's deputies, juvenile court officers, and anyone else who wears a badge will serve as Bigs who will meet with their Littles during lunch at Sioux City middle schools.

Jr. Bigs Program
The Jr. Bigs Program is a unique, school-based mentoring initiative that pairs high school students (“Jr. Bigs”) with elementary-aged students (“Littles”) in their district. This peer mentoring model allows older students to make a positive and lasting impact in the life of a younger student by building a friendship, being a role model, and offering encouragement. Meetings typically take place once a week during the school day, in a structured setting with the support of school staff and BBBS program coordinators.
Currently, we recruit high school mentors from Sioux City Public Schools, the Sioux City Career Academy, Bishop Heelan High School, and Hinton High School. Elementary schools participating in the program include Leeds Elementary, Hunt Elementary, and Hinton Elementary.
Interested high school students who want to become a Jr. Big can email us at bbbs@bigbrothersbigsisters.com to learn more or apply.
